BrightSide Care - IconAbout Waiver Services

What Are Waiver Services?

Waiver Services are programs funded by Minnesota Medical Assistance (MA) that “waive” the need for institutional care — such as nursing homes or hospitals — by offering equivalent support in community and home settings.

Through these programs, individuals can receive the assistance they need to live, work, and participate fully in their communities while staying connected to family and familiar surroundings.

Who Qualifies for Waiver Services

You may qualify for Waiver Services if you:

  • Are eligible for Medical Assistance (MA) in Minnesota.
  • Have a MnCHOICES assessment that determines a need for long-term care support.
  • Require services to live safely in the community rather than a facility.
  • Can direct your own care or have an authorized representative.
