What Are Children and Family Services?
Children and Family Services at BrightSide Care include a range of supports that help families care for children with physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional needs.
Our approach focuses on empowering families, strengthening skills, and supporting each child’s individual development and potential.
We assist families who may be:
- Caring for a child with disabilities or complex medical needs
- Navigating behavioral or social challenges
- Transitioning between programs such as PCA, CFSS, or waiver services
- Seeking guidance on resources or DHS-based support options

BrightSide Care provides flexible and comprehensive Children and Family Services, including:
Daily Living Support
Assistance with activities such as dressing, grooming, mobility, eating, and personal hygiene — provided in a safe and supportive environment that promotes your child’s comfort and confidence.
Behavioral and Emotional Support
Positive behavior interventions, redirection, and structured routines to help children manage emotions, follow routines, and engage successfully at home and in their community.
Health-Related and Developmental Support
Support with nurse-delegated health tasks, medication reminders, and developmental skill-building — helping families manage complex care needs at home safely and effectively.
Family Education and Training
Coaching for parents, guardians, and caregivers to help them understand their child’s needs, develop strategies, and strengthen family connections.
Community and Social Integration
Encouraging participation in community activities, recreation, and school involvement — helping children build friendships, confidence, and independence.
Care Coordination and Resource Connection
Connecting families to local resources, county supports, and state-funded programs such as CFSS, PCA, or waiver services, ensuring continuity and comprehensive care.
CFC Services
Who Can Receive Children and Family Services?
Our Children and Family Services are available to:
- Children and youth under 21 who need assistance with daily living or behavioral support.
- Families who are caring for children with developmental disabilities, autism, chronic health conditions, or behavioral challenges.
- Parents or guardians seeking help navigating DHS services, waiver programs, or medical assistance (MA).
- Families transitioning from hospital or treatment settings back into the home.
Each family’s eligibility is determined through a county, tribal, or health plan assessment (such as MnCHOICES) in accordance with DHS guidelines.

Call or email us to discuss your child’s needs and available service options.
01Schedule an Assessment
If your child is not yet connected to a DHS program, we’ll help you request a MnCHOICES assessment or connect with your case manager.
02Develop a Plan
We’ll work together to create a personalized care and support plan that fits your family’s goals.
03Begin Services
Our compassionate, trained staff will begin providing the approved supports and monitor progress regularly.
04Stay Supported
We’ll remain in close contact to adjust services as your child grows and their needs change.
